I’ve probably posted about Spring for every year that I’ve been blogging, but the thought of new life continually captivates me anew.
Today is officially the first day of Spring in South Africa. Some years, the 1st of September still feels more like winter, but I have to admit that this year, Spring is definitely in the air. It’s been waiting like an unhatched chick to come out of its shell, for the past few days.
Our lives can be compared to seasons, and so can the different stages of our lives. However, no matter what season we’re going through right now, Spring should be our core foundational season upon which we build.
Spring symbolises new life and fresh beginnings. Spring brings about an end to winter, putting it to death. And even though there are still chills that try to bite through, Spring will conquer the season.
And he went forth unto the spring of the waters, and cast the salt in there, and said, Thus saith the LORD, I have healed these waters; there shall not be from thence any more death or barren land. (italics added) (KJV)
2 Kings 2:21
When God, the creator of all seasons, forms within you a true Spring, He promises that there cannot be any more death. How then, is it possible that so many of us go through our Christian lives as if it is still Autumn, or even Winter? What are we still holding on to? Which sins can we not let go of?
Cast them aside! Throw off that weight! Confess those sins and forsake it! We dare not move ahead any further when everything around us is barren and dry and cold. God’s fire can never burn in such conditions.
Welcome Spring, and let God work so that He can take us on to Summer, so that His fire can burn even hotter. Only then can we best warm the lives of those who are still in Winter.
He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water. (Amplified)
Have a “Spring-filled” Spring day!
