23For if anyone only listens to the Word without obeying it and being a doer of it, he is like a man who looks carefully at his [own] natural face in a mirror; 24For he thoughtfully observes himself, and then goes off and promptly forgets what he was like. (James 1:23-24)
“Oh you wicked thing. You are cruel and thoughtless. Why do I have to stare at you every day? You reveal every blemish and broken spot for which I walk a hundred miles to hide.
Actually… who are you, and why are you here?”
I’m pretty certain these are the thoughts of many a young girl, and if not, be it ever so subtle.
We cannot bare the reflection the mirror gives us because just the sight of our pitied self makes us melt like chocolate when the sun gets too hot.
Oh… then why is life so sad?
So cruel. So unbearably wicked.
When we contently accept ourselves, life will somehow automatically accept us.
And so will the mirror. 😉
We are our Creator’s most intimate creations, for there is none like us because we were made in His image.
All has been heard; the end of the matter is: Fear God [revere and worship Him, knowing that He is] and keep His commandments, for this is the whole of man [the full, original purpose of his creation, the object of God’s providence, the root of character, the foundation of all happiness, the adjustment to all inharmonious circumstances and conditions under the sun] and the whole [duty] for every man.
Thank you Lord for making me, me.
